Direction

Spardha: Independent Theatre Collective offers six short-term modules as a hands-on learning program for people who want to become theatre directors. Here, the participants learn the basics of theatre-making by studying great directors theorize on theatre and direction, learning to analyze play-texts, designing simple sets, lighting and costumes, the fundamentals of play directing (composition, picturization, movement and rhythm), auditions and casting. They also learn how to guide actors and shape scenes. An important module of the workshops is the direction project, where each person directs a short play. When a person completes all six modules, s/he is ready to step into the world of theatre with concrete experience and skills.
